Paradise
was found, on the East Coast,
in the sunny state of Florida. The location of paradise was located 17
miles south of Melbourne and 17 miles north of Vero Beach, in the
community of Barefoot Bay.
Barefoot Bay,
located on 1500 acres of Brevard County, was founded twenty-eight years
ago and now is home to 10,000 residents. Over 5000 homes adorn the
beautiful landscaped grounds.
The residents enjoy a 772-foot
lighted fishing pier, which juts out into the Indian River. They also enjoy
access to a private beach on the oceanfront. There are many clubs, over
100, for residents to join with meetings taking place in various
community owned buildings. 3 heated pools are located close to the
residents' homes. The main community building houses a kitchen and a large
auditorium. The building is also the home to the community dance floor
and lounge.
For those who enjoy golf,
the community has an 18 hole professional golf course. The course
features changing rooms, meeting rooms, and a pro shop. After a round of
golf, the 19th Hole is available for a refreshing drink and sandwich.
The community also
features fresh water fishing. Various fresh water canals and
lakes are found throughout the community. The lakes are stocked for the
community. Non motorized boats are permitted.
Perhaps the peace of mind
and security the community provides is its greatest asset. At the
entrance of the community is the fire department with EMS-ALS service and
the sheriff sub station. The public library and medical offices are also
located here. A Lutheran church and Baptist church are on the main boulevard,
with the newly refurbished Catholic church around the corner on Micco
Road. St. Luke's Catholic Church offers a thrift store.
The community also feature
several banks, shopping strips, a restaurant, and an adult game room. The local hospital is 3
miles south of Barefoot Bay.
Sebastian, known for its
great fishing, is just south of Barefoot Bay. Orlando and Disney World
are located within 2 hours drive of the community. Also, about 30
minutes south of Barefoot Bay is the Disney resort, a great way to spend
a hot summer day. Other major
attractions are easily found by use of the major roads that surround the
community.
The residents of Barefoot
Bay show their pride. The pride is reflected in the neatly trimmed yards,
the well-maintained homes, and the beautiful common grounds. The Deed of
Restrictions guides the residents in proper maintenance of their property.
